Deformity Spine Surgeries

    Deformity Correction

Scoliosis & Kyphosis are two types of deformities commonly seen in the spine.

Scoliosis is abnormal bend or curvature in the spine in the anteroposterior plane, while kyphosis is abnormal bend in sagittal plane.

These deformities either can be present at birth or may develop later on due to secondary causes.

These deformities are mainly cosmetic, and are routinely corrected, when they are increasing in severity of the angles and deformities.

Sometimes these deformities can cause compression of the critical structures like the heart & lungs, and thus lead to difficulty in breathing and decreased cardiac functions, in these conditions, it is necessary to operate the patients with the deformities early, so that the vital functions are preserved.

Nowadays while performing such complex deformity correction surgeries, we use advanced equipments at our disposal like, neuromonitoring, navigation and O-arm. All these help us in performing such complex surgeries more accurately without any complications.

    Minimally Invasive Deformity Correction:

With the development of advanced equipments and instrumentation it is possible to perform certain complex deformity and revision spinal surgeries, through minimally invasive techniques also.

The benefit of using minimally invasive techniques is of smaller scar, lesser tissue destruction, more precise instrumentation, better correction and lesser complications.

At our centre and our team routinely performs such complex spinal surgeries through minimally invasive techniques.
